Weekend Eating

HEY! I felt that I should do a lighter post today because the one from earlier this week was relatively intense. So, let's talk about food.

Do you blow your diet on the weekend? My weekends tend to suck in that my food choices aren't as regimented as they are during my work week. How can you manage to enjoy your weekend out and still stay on board with relatively healthy food choices? Start with these basics:

-Drink a ton of water, which should be SUPER easy to do during this time of year. By a ton, I mean at LEAST HALF YOUR BODY WEIGHT IN OUNCES. If you weigh 140lbs, you should consume at least 70 ounces of water. Helpful tip: Buy a 32oz water bottle and take it with you everywhere. Seriously. Everywhere.

-Eat a big breakfast, which doesn't mean to load up on pancakes and fruity pebbles, although this was a great recipe for all natural pancakes. Anywhoo, eat eggs. Sausage. Bacon. Omelet with veggies. Fruit. Smoothies. Having protein in the morning will keep you full and won't spike your insulin levels.

-If you go out to eat, here are my fav places:
Chipotle- Burrito Bowl: Veggies, Meat, Salsa, Guac, Lettuce. Add beans if you want. Stay away from the sour cream, cheese and rice.
Any burger place (In N Out, 5 Guys, The Habit, etc)- lettuce wrapped burger/chicken, etc. Wrap your meat in lettuce and add whatever veggies you want. I like avocado, grilled onion, tomatoes, etc). If you really wanna spice up your life, add some bacon. YUM.
-Any other restaurant: Make sure your meal consists of some form of protein, veggie (salads, of course), and stay away from that soda, mayo, cheese covered anything and any "special sauce."
-OH! And if by any chance, you find yourself lost in the ghetto with no place to eat, (not that I have ever experienced this or anything), you'll at least be able to find a grocery store where you can by produce, or lunch meat.

Yeah, don't be like Snooki. Ever.
-Alcohol- if you missed it, check out my post on alcohol and it will help you get drunk in a healthy and highly  effective manner. Wait...

-Snacks and traveling- First, buy a big purse (you too, boys, jk. No boys read my blog). Second, load up with beef jerkey, larabars, any gluten free bar, nuts, carrots, seeds, dried seaweed (don't knock it til' ya try it), any fruit that will stay fresh (apples, oranges, etc). Also, don't feel odd about carrying around a tupperware in your purse. Everyone does it...

Hope this helps a little. Also, if you can, try to get in at least one workout. A workout does not mean you have to go to the gym. Try taking your dog on a little run, maybe a hike with a friend/significant other? Bike rides are great too! Ya know what? Let's just go ahead and consider shopping a workout...just be sure to go to a big mall where you have to hit up at least 10 stores. Just be sure to stay away from Wetzels Pretzels...and Hot Dog On A Stick.

  1. I just wanted to say that love your posts! I'm starting my first day at the gym tomorrow morning and I am super excited :) But working out is only half the battle. This post has given me ideas on healthier meal choices. Thanks a bunch and keep up the awesome work =D
